They are designed for rooms where building codes require two methods of egress (escape). We recommend that you install Fakro side-hinged
skylights for use as an egress roof window for safety and building code approval.
Fakro egress windows is available in two versions, right opening FWU-R or left opening FWU-L. This roof window also lets extra light into the room. FWU size 24/46 window is officially recognized as a certified Fire Exit roof window (For warranty and Certifications, See characteristics down the page).

Special flashings are intended for side hinged egress windows.
There are two types:
-(ELW) flashing is for use with flat roofs and roofing materials
-(EHW) flashing is for use with profiled or sloped rooftops
and roofing materials

-Protection Against Effects Of Outside Condensation: Thanks to a very thick wooden frame-all metal hardware is eliminated. Metal causes condensation to form. In addition, an ice-water shield is added during the installation process to protect the wooden frame. Thus condensation will only appear on the ice-water shield and not the outside frame surface.
-Protection Against Effects Of Inside Condensation (No dripping water on frame and drywall)
*Leak proof: When installed according instructions, with the included flashing kit and ice-water shield membrane, FAKRO warrants a 10-YEAR LEAK-PROOF installation.
